A Felonious Hearing, A Smoky Day, and a Smart Protest: Protests Coming Up Quickly

Upcoming Protest Events of Possible Interest in Santa Cruz:

April 20th 9 AM Readiness for Preliminary Hearing in the Fabricated Felony cases of 7 of the Santa Cruz Eleven Dept. 6. I suspect the April 23 Preliminary Hearings scheduled to begin next week will be postponed as our (mine and Becky Johnson's) were. It will actually be a chance to see most of the 11 together in the same place for those who are interested. The http://www.santacruzeleven.org website is still in the "soon to be on line" state, looks like.

April 20th UCSC 4-20 Annual Smoke-Out (For the political dimension, see http://www.dailycal.org/2012/04/16/the-420-chronic-les-of-uc-berkeley/ ). Last year's rally at UCSC involved thousands with photos at http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2011/04/15/18677227.php . I can't find any local announcements about the event, but it has drawn thousands in the past.

April 21st Earth Day Frolics Green capitalists sport their wares on the green at San Lorenzo Park, while ghosts of homeless people driven away last December 8th from Occupy Santa Cruz by dozens of cops in riot gear still haunt the area. Rumors of re-Occupation continue to float about. Smart Meter opponents plan a political protest (see http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2012/04/17/18711503.php ).
